Food Donations - SWAG Southwest Advocacy Group
Hello Neighbors,
This Thanksgiving season let's gather a little extra food to donate to the Food Pantry at SWAG- Southwest Advocacy Group. SWAG serves an area with a high concentration of poverty less than 5 miles from our own community. Their website states "SWAG works to address needs, provide opportunities, and improve the quality of life for residents" in the surrounding southwest neighborhoods
(see https://swadvocacygroup.org/ ). The children living in those neighborhoods are going to school with our own children, just down 8th Avenue from us, but they are growing up in poverty. The SWAG community pantry provides emergency food assistance that can be a lifeline to a family that runs short on food between paychecks or before the end of the month.
Food donations of shelf-stable items such as canned and packaged foods can be dropped off on the front porch of the Town of Tioga Meeting Hall in designated bins from now through Thanksgiving.
